The KJ Trade
I'm in favour.
Trading Kerry Joesph might mean a repeat of last years Grey Cup isn't in the works, but a fan has to ask if they thought it was real possibility last year too. In one and a half years Eric Tillman set it up so that the Riders could win the Grey Cup. We peaked with a strong set of Rider veterans and a savvy set of free-agents and rookies.
Kerry Joesph was the Grey Cup MVP League's MOP
(thank you Hobbes), but in my opinion he was simply the better
of a mediocre selection. Kerry Joesph didn't win the Cup, the
Riders did. The rookie QB on the other side played like a
rookie, defence stepped it up with TD's, and we scored just
enough. Our offense in that game was anything but stellar.
I don't think Kerry is worth $350k, I don't think he won us the Cup, and I think Tillman is correct in thinking of rebuilding. I don't think anyone thinks Marcus Crandell can shoulder the whole team and drag us to the Grey Cup again, but last year, no one thought KJ would either and aside from a couple of games, he didn't. Let's face it, Kerry Joesph is no Doug Flutie, Dave Dickenson, or Anthony Calvillo. I think that we have a couple of good rookie QB's that need some time behind the line so that we can win the GC without the 18 year break.
Only a fool rests on their laurels, Eric Tillman is no fool. The Rider fans asking for Eric's head on the other hand....
Cheers,
lance
