Some worrying things, Fair Use and Equalization

As predicted in August, DRM is on the drawing board. (h/t Saskboy)

I call on on Bev Oda to protect fair use.

When the Liberals tried this, Bulte was brought down in her riding. I hope we don't have to toss a CPC MP too.

As Saskboy Asks, Write your MP. It is up to us to protect our rights to make fair use of the products we purchase. We are not "licensing" a CD, we're buying it. We have the right to put it on anything we want and listen to the music in any way we please. If you're having problems with copyright infringement, then go after them in court. That's your option. (I'm talking to you, CIRA.)

I should note that I am not against copyright enforcement, but that I am against a redefinition of fair use.

The TorStar is reporting an unsatisfying compromise regarding the equalization promise the CPC made during the election. This is disappointing to say the least. (H/t Political Staples.

I should note that these both are just reports, but I am beginning to question the idea of a CPC majority.

Cheers,
lance
